GHOST IN THE SHELL Gets New Animated Remake

Two days after the announcement of Scarlet Johansson’s casting for the live-action adaptation of Ghost In The Shell, Anime News Network posted a new trailer for an upcoming animated movie for the said franchise.

Unlike the previous adaptations, it will follow the original plot of the manga. Furthermore, it has been clarified that it will bear no ties to DreamWorks’ version.

Kazuchika Kise and Tow Ubukata, the chief director and writer behind 2013’s Ghost in the Shell: Arise anime, are attached to the 2015 remake along with the Arise voice cast. Kazuya Nomura is attached to the project as director and Tooru Ookubo (Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence) serves as chief animation director.
