The first teaser trailer for the new Batman videogame — Batman: Arkham Origins is now out!!! It shows a short battle between Batman and Deathstroke! The game will feature the debut of Deathstroke and Alberto Falcone, and the return of characters like Penguin and Alfred Pennyworth. Let’s hope the game turns out to be great like its predecessors Arkham Asylum and Arkham City!

The Joker has not yet been confirmed to appear and Mark Hammil is said to be not involved with the game. Long time, fan favorite Kevin Conroy is not slated to voice Batman in the new game and will opt for another actor to voice a younger Batman.

Batman: Arkham Origins is set to be released on October 2013, for Xbox, Playstation, Wii U and PC.

Earlier at the Game Developers Conference 2013 (GDC13), known MGS developer Hideo Kojima revealed that the new METAL GEAR SOLID V is made up of Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain, but will be actually called ‘MGS V: The Phantom Pain‘. According to Kojima, The Phantom Pain is an open-world game — “The tutorial itself is a sequence where Snake wakes up from a coma after nine years.” Long time voice-actor David Hayter is not involved in the project, and his replacement has not yet been announced.

He then later showed a lot of stuff regarding the process in making the game with the use of their new FOX Engine:

Here’s a quick rundown review for the game Metal Gear Rising Revengeance published by Konami and developed by Platinum Games.

The game follows the adventures of Raiden as he tracks down a PMC bent on destroying the hard earned peace that Solid Snake fought for at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Here’s the bullet points, hopefully these will help you decide whether to buy the game or just skip this one completely.

THE GOOD:

The gameplay is fast and furious which is a departure from the classic sneaking around we’ve all known Metal Gear games for. Raiden carries a bad ass katana that he uses to cut down enemies like they were fruits.

Music is astounding. Finishing the game and getting to listen to all the tracks will probably push you to go and buy the OST. I know I did. Like all the other Metal Gear games, each boss has his or her own theme. Keep your ears to the ground for The Monsoon’s track.

Raiden is no longer the weird cyborg we’ve seen in Metal Gear 4 nor is he the lame-o hero from Metal Gear 2, this is a completely different, completely new badass.

The Zan-Datsu is fun. It’ll require precision and some fruit ninja swiping skills to really hit a high combo mark.

The graphics is insane. I’m not so big on technical stuff but I know that a lot of effort was put into making this game such an eye candy.

The bosses aren’t so bad either. I sense that in a few months cosplay conventions will feature these guys particularly Jetstream Sam who totally wiped the floor with Raiden.

Replay value is relevant. Once you’re through with MGR, you’ll probably want to go for seconds albeit in a higher difficulty. There’s also tons of things to unlock such as the various non-DLC armors and swords. VR Missions also make sure that you’ll want to do another playthrough.

THE BAD:

For such a promising game, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance clocks in at around 4-6 hours of gameplay. It’s too short for something so beautiful. People who are looking to have 10 to 20 hours will be sorely disappointed with this one.

Parrying can be a bitch especially if you’re a beginner. Even if you get the hang of it, you’ll still encounter some frustration as enemy attacks connect and bite down chunks of your life.

There are some plot holes in the story. The redeeming bit however is, WHO CARES?!

On higher difficulties enemies change tactics. Imagine fighting the gorilla-esque cyborg which you easily dispatch on Normal, encountering him in REVENGEANCE and getting snuffed.

VERDICT:

Overall, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance is such a sweet, sweet game to play. Even if it is short, it makes up with a high fun factor and beautiful graphics. See past the humdrum story and you’ll definitely have a grand time playing Revengeance on the Playstation 3 or the Xbox 360.

10/10

Telltale Games will be coming up with a sequel to the ‘The Walking Dead’ video game they released last year. They also created episodic adventure games such as Monkey Island and Sam and Max.

Also, TellTale Games CEO and co-founder Dan Connors, said in an interview in IGN, that the FABLES video game was postponed for a long time. But he said that now they’ll be doing it and it will be highly adapting the content that we see from the original comics from Vertigo, created by Bill Willingham. The Fables game is still in production and has no release date yet, and the title of the game may not be ‘Fables’ at all. That said, we’re pretty sure that fans of the series will be excited to see the video game adaptation of Fables characters such as Bigby Wolf!

Here’s what Connors has to say regarding Fables –

We won’t be using the name Fables. We’re based on the property, but we’ll have a new name. We haven’t announced it yet. We’re still hammering it out. We want to make sure that people know it’s associated with the DC comic and Bill’s work and everything else. It’s delicate. But it won’t be called Fables.

With Fables, or the game associated with the comic Fables, it kind of… Walking Dead has had a huge impact on the company as far as how we look at things and how we do what we do. We’re taking a lot of what we learned from that and making sure that Fables can execute on the same things. That’s taking longer. But we’re definitely in full production on it. We’re working hard. It’s coming together really well. We’ll probably have more to talk about on it pretty soon, with a name and everything else, in the near future.”

If you’re wondering what that thing is… It’s a keyboard. In fact, it is a professional gaming keyboard called “Desert Eagle” by Dragon War. I never thought I’d pick up a gaming keyboard any time soon, but because I recently acquired a copy of Guild Wars 2 and because my MacBook Pro’s keyboard turned into a hot, sticky mess thanks to a seemingly harmless choco-banana smoothie, I decided to take the plunge. Actually, I didn’t need that much convincing, the price <del style="color: #000000;">and the “water resistant” mark</del> on the box did all my thinking for me. For PHP495.00 you can now own a professional gaming keyboard.

If you wanna get a glimpse of the Desert Eagle or if you’re simply curious about what my first impressions of this keyboard are, check out this video:

Here are some close up shots of the keyboard as well as some of its notable features:

The ASWD and directional keys are “sparkle blue” but the package also provides you with black replacement keys so you can easily switch them out. The Desert Eagle also has 10 multimedia function keys, 5 on each side of the keyboard.

Dishonored lets you play as a ghost, assassin, or a blade and crossbow-touting madman thirsty for vengeance.

I have never been a fan of stealth. I’ve always believed that keeping your enemies unaware of your presence would soon lead to a misstep, alarming them that there’s some sneaky filth creeping behind the shadows with a knife or Hidden Blade attached to his wrists.

But what happens if you fuse together the elements of stealth, Paganism, and witchcraft? Dishonored pulls you into a dystopia where a mysterious plague has people running with flies surrounding their bodies and blood covering their eyes.

You play as Corvo Attano, a bodyguard that serves under the royal mantle of Empress Jessamine Kaldwin who was shortly murdered by a mysterious group of fast-moving assassins. Corvo was framed by the Empress’s political allies, besmirching the bodyguard’s legacy with a hilt on the face. Not long afterwards, Corvo receives assistance from a group of Loyalists who wants the Empress’s daughter, Emily Kaldwin, succeed the throne and it’s up to the once respected bodyguard to take on the role of a masked assassin to claim back his life and the lives of the people who architected the Empress’s death.

Developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks, Dishonored plunges Corvo in a battle to lethally punish Dunwall’s villains or seek a non-lethal solution by doing side missions. During your forays to Dunwall’s forgotten streets, Corvo will encounter city guards, masked overseers, Walls of Light, and pylons that shoot electric currents that incinerate targets into ashes, making it difficult for players to establish sweet spots where they can easily go in for the kill undetected.

To assist Corvo in his quest to travel the heavily guarded districts of Dunwall is his arsenal of supernatural abilities granted to him by the Outsider, a mysterious enigma intrigued by how Corvo will decide the fates of his antagonists. Corvo’s powers provide players with choices in accomplishing missions. For example, the skill Blink teleports Corvo to short distances while Devouring Swarm enables the player to summon a hungry pack of rats that surround enemies within seconds, consuming them to the bone.

Dishonored shines in encouraging players to experiment on how they want to proceed without Corvo being shot or electrocuted. This experimentation can be either stealthy or destructive in approach and for those who value quick slashes to the neck than explosions, Corvo’s Bend Time slows down the passing of time, making it possible for players to dash in normal speed and avoid conflict or decapitate guards huddled together in groups.

Powers can be upgraded by unearthing Runes hidden in the plagued ruins of Dunwall. Additionally, Corvo has access to mystic items called Bone Charms, which supply Corvo with passive bonuses that vary from amplified combat skills and HP/Mana restoration. Runes and Bone Charms can be easily located by an artifact called The Heart, a mechanical version of our heart that speaks about Dunwall’s secrets and more on the plague.

Corvo’s skills as an assassin are unparalleled and with the Outsider’s magic helping him in quest for revenge a watered slide, Dishonored employs a unique grading system that judges how Corvo’s road to vengeance will end. If you wish to move like a ghost and avoid direct or indirect confrontation, you’ll be greeted with a peaceful ending. But if you fancy death over diplomacy, then expect a chaotic ending with few of the allies you’ve met in your journey acting more aggressive and unreasonable.

Dishonored is definitely a game of choices. Kill without leaving a trace of your shadow behind and guards will soon panic and leave their back wide open for a crossbow finale, or you can just lob a grenade and finish them off one-by-one with calculated strikes and swift counters. The Outsider’s mark is at your disposal and whether you want to push enemies off the ledge with a strong gust or possess guards to do the dirty work for you, it’s really up to you.

The next basketball game from the NBA 2k series is arriving soon! Scheduled for an October 2, 2012 release, NBA 2k13 is one of the most anticipated games here in the Philippines, since Basketball is close to almost every Filipino’s heart.

NBA 2k13 features three athletes on their cover, namely – Blake Griffin (LA Clippers), Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder) and Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls). Interestingly, Jay-Z ,an American rapper, songwriter and record producer is the executive producer of the game – in which he worked on the overall look and feel of the game as well as, of course, it’s soundtrack! Jay-Z is also a part owner of the Brooklyn Nets (formerly New Jersey Nets).

The new game is reported to feature the complete lineup of the original 1992 DREAM TEAM, new controls, options to design your own shoes and send them to NikeID, and my most favorite part — ALLEN IVERSON is BACK. Yes, he’s finally back in the roster and since he is the original cover athlete for the NBA 2K series, it’s only fitting that he’s finally back in the game. Hopefully they got his signature moves, gesture to the fans right.

To see more awesome stuff, and what awaits you for possibly the BEST NBA 2K yet, watch the official trailer below. NBA 2k13 will be available for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, PC, PSP and Wii
