Kotobukiya Releases New Classic Captain America Statue

Kotobukiya released several new images featuring the upcoming Captain America Statue.

Created in 1941 by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby to represent opposition to Nazi Germany, Captain America combined superhero stories with patriotism and the fight against oppression in the world. From humble beginnings as a physically weak young man, Steve Rogers attempted to join the United States military service to combat the threat in Europe. Recruited into a secret “Super-Soldier” program, Rogers was given a serum and radiation that transformed him into a paragon of human athleticism. With a red, white, and blue costume and special aerodynamic shield, Captain America burst onto the superhero scene. Rogers would team up with other heroes and fight alongside the Avengers on multiple occasions, and it’s that heroic inspiration that drives his latest appearance: Captain America Classic Costume! Coinciding with the upcoming Avengers film in 2012, this series celebrates the classic versions of some of Marvel’s greatest heroes.

Captain America stands tall as a symbol of freedom and democracy, ever vigilant in the face of opposition. Perched on top of a rocky outcrop, Steve Rogers surveys the field of battle before him while ready to spring into action. His classic uniform has been painstakingly recreated with its suit, boots, belt, textured shirt, gloves, and cowl with the prominent “A” and tiny wings. The red, white, and blue color scheme is resplendent, and your eye will be drawn to the bright white stars on Cap’s chest and back as well as the striped red and white of his midsection. Of course, secured to Rogers’ right arm is his trusty shield, and it has never looked better! Captain America makes for a truly imposing and heroic image, and it’s made even better by offering you a choice in how you want to display him. Included with the statue are two heads so your Cap can wear his cowl or go bare-headed as Steve Rogers!

The classic Captain America stands a stately 15 inches tall (1/6 scale), and has been sculpted by artist Erick Sosa. His rocky terrain base matches those on the other Classic Avengers, the previously released Thor and the upcoming Iron Man! Collect your classic Avengers team just in time for the new film.
