GEEK HUNT: Bacon Soap, Zombie Apocalypse Gears and More in Newly Opened Parafreaq

Got a hot tip from our new contributor slash writer Dirv about a special new place in V-Mall in Greenhills called “Parafreaq” and since I’ve got nothing better to do I decided to check them out.

And like what they’re logo has been saying, it totally blew my mind.

So what’s Parafreaq and who does it cater to? Parafreaq is the brainchild of EJ Reyes of Gnarly and Tracy Romano. The goal of the shop is to provide a geeky store which features cool retro products side by side with some cool concept geek stuff.

It’s not just random “bebenta” stuff but it’s more of the stuff that the guys want to buy if they were buyers themselves. A funny thing that the guys were telling me when I paid them a visit was that the stuff they sell might not look much to some but it might be a treasure to other storegoers.

Check out some of the stuff that they have:

Newton’s Cradle!!!!

You might be thinking that it’s going to be a local version of HOT TOPIC but the owners is giving us a resounding NO. To them Parafreaq is a store that’s in the middle. It’s not so underground that only a select few will actually enjoy and return to and it’s not as mainstream as Hot Topic.

The biggest thing that we should look forward with Parafreaq as they grow is the community. They plan on creating a community of geeks sharing that same passion for stuff that the current generation and the mainstream folks cannot seem to relate to.

EJ and Tracy promised that come the official launch party will feature a lot more products. This would mean that theres more BACON!!!

What are you waiting for guys, pay Parafreaq a visit. I’m sure there’s something for you. I know I did.

Special thanks again to the guys at Parafreaq and to Dirv for the photos and the time.
