!?!?!

Ang Pagkikipagsapalaran ni Mang Gayber #2 is the second chapter of the new series unleashed by Arvin Valenzuela. He continues the misadventures of the twisted Philippine version of the beloved 1980s and 1990s pop culture icon, MacGyver. This time around, things transpired are so absurd, downright ridiculous, and more so, borderline surreal that I can describe it as bizarrely as it gets.

The pacing is moderate, but nothing suspenseful nor dramatic at all. Sometimes, there are word balloons that are misarranged or perhaps otherwise. The plot is very simplistic, and the rest is absolutely bizarre because the main antagonist just likes to challenge the titular character by leaving dubious breadcrumbs for his rival to trace him. Furthermore, I am aware his anatomical takes on the characters are parodies or caricatures of the beloved MacGyver casts, but I feel so aghast just to view their facial portrayals. Even the dialogues are quite dense and at times, verbose to create the supposed tensions between the titular character and the rest of his team and villain.

Furthermore, outright ridiculousness can be described on many moments around, especially the biting part and the more boring head-scratching confrontation part, probably paving way to the third chapter of this web-comic series. Seriously, even the sense of humor is diminished as the story progresses, if that’s intent in the first place. But I give this second part the benefit of being absurd and surreal for the sake alone.
