REVIEW: A hunt is in order with ‘Nightwing: The New Order #1′
Formerly known as the Boy Wonder, Dick Grayson turned his back against the capes and crusaders to save his family and the world.
Formerly known as the Boy Wonder, Dick Grayson turned his back against the capes and crusaders to save his family and the world. But what happens when his family turns to capes? Will the former Boy Wonder stick with the law or will he compromise his integrity?
I wasn’t expecting much from this elseworld-esque story since I’m not a fan of an alternative world story. However, after reading NIGHTWING: THE NEW ORDER #1, I got hooked into the world where Dick Grayson is hunting down people with supernatural powers.
Dura lex sed lex, the law is harsh but it is the law. Those are the words that resonates through the narrative of Nightwing: The New Order #1. It is also the phrase that will test Dick’s loyalty to the law. The book questions the foundation of the law that eliminates all unnatural powers. While the narrative fits our current society, what interests me more is the struggle that Dick encounters at the end of the issue.
Trevor McCarthy’s art is not the best but it perfectly compliments the grim world written by Kyle Higgins. I wasn’t suppose to add this book to my pull list, but after reading it, I would regret not getting it.
