Writers Michael R. Martin & Adam J. Orndorf presented us with what is to be considered a horror comic that breaks from tradition and they continue that as Blood and Dust: The Life & Undeath of Judd Glenny #2 rolls along.
Blood and Dust: The Life & Undeath of Judd Glenny #2 picks up where the 1st issue left, Judd has to rescue his great granddaughter from the swamp near his own home. On paper it would sound basic but Martin & Orndorf focus on breaking tradition by telling the swamp’s twist all while going back to doing flashback sequences like the 1st issue did except the flashbacks here are done in full form instead of exposition type snippets.
The art team continues the eerie vibe here with Roy Allan Martinez still delivering the main art that fully emphasizes the darkness in this comic. What shines in this issue’s art is how Raymund Lee‘s limited color palette brings out a lot from this issue. The monochromatic color scheme for the flashbacks and the present time’s art and then the swamp’s creepy yet vibrant green is what catches the reader’s attention a lot.
Still proving to be a hit that breaks from horror traditions, Blood and Dust: The Life & Undeath of Judd Glenny #2 is definitely recommended reading and the selling point in this issue is how Martin and Orndorf give the swamp complete significance complimented by the art team’s excellent emphasis on it. Chances are you’ll be eager to wait for the next issue thanks to this one’s cliffhanger.
