REVIEW: Jason’s past in ‘Wonder Woman #35′
This family affair is set to explode in this week’s WONDER WOMAN #35
Betrayal is the only truth that sticks. Last issue ended with Jason teaming up with Grail to seek revenge against his twin sister, Wonder Woman. This family affair is set to explode in this week’s WONDER WOMAN #35. But did James Robinson bring enough fire power to keep things interesting?
When “Children of the Gods” was announced, it provided tons of excitement especially with the Filipino fans considering the involvement of Filipino comic book artist Carlo Pagulayan. The premise of the story was also something to be excited about since it promises to explore the relationship between Wonder Woman and her long lost twin brother, Jason.
The series started out strong but as the story goes further, the excitement turns to disappointment. The story has taken a long time to develop. We’re on the 5th installment of the arc and nothing much has happened in the story. It provided side stories of Grail and two issues where the origin story of Jason was explored.
Nothing much has happened in Wonder Woman #35, and I’m starting to go weary of the title. The only redeeming qualities of this book is Emanuela Lupacchino’s artwork and Romulo Fajardo Jr.’s colors. The two still continue to make wonders out of a mediocre story.
As much as I want to continue reading Wonder Woman books, I’m starting to feel like the story is poorly written. It is also filled with filler stories, which I think, aren’t necessary in the furtherance of the story. But, I am still intrigued on how they will end this story. I just hope they Robinson stops with the origin and side stories and just go narrate the main story.
