REVIEW: On the Road Again with ‘Red Hood and the Outlaws Annual #2′
Since Rebirth, Red Hood and the Outlaws has been consistent with its great story-telling.
Saved by Roy Harper from an ass-whoopin’ from Batman, Jason Todd visits “home” for some rest and relaxation. In an old base where the New 52 Outlaws operated, Roy and Jason try to battle their inner demons by rediscovering their own selves. This split-second reunion sets up “Red Hood, Outlaw” as both heroes go on their separate ways at the end of the story.
Since Rebirth, Red Hood and the Outlaws has been consistent with its great story-telling. Headed by Scott Lobdell, these B-list heroes are given new depth to their characters by making them face hard decisions. These character developments are evident and have paid off in the second installment of the title’s annual issue.
The best part of this issue is the realness of the problems these heroes struggle with. Lobdell does a great job making it easier for readers to connect and empathize with the heroes of the story.
The interior artwork is also amazing. The mix of bold lines by Clayton Henry and vibrant colors by Marcelo Maiolo makes the pages eye-catching and engaging. Panel transition is great also as it gives emphasis to the script written by Lobdell.
Overall, there is no dull moment in Red Hood and the Outlaws Annual #2. Quick banters and the bromance between Red Hood and Arsenal is gold, as always. The annual issue has a complete story while it sets up a new chapter for both Red Hood and Arsenal.
