The dream of a long weekend draws near. For some it may be true and not just a dream, but one thing’s for sure – the weekend has a lot in store for us. It’s payday weekend, some might take leave from their work as early as Thursday and go out of town. But if you’re one of the people who’ll be staying in Manila, and you’re looking for gigs then this geek guide is for you!
With a few days of preparation left, the weekend will be super awesome because it will host a lot of events and activities that would suffice your geeky thirst — Free Comic Book Day, Star Wars Day (May the 4th) and Flipgeeks’ Flip the Switch Series!
* FREE COMIC BOOK DAY
The day that all comic book readers and fans wait for every year – FREE COMIC BOOK DAY. All around the world, participating retailers and local comic shops give out FCBD books which includes various specials, stories, compilations made by different big company and even independent publishers.
Nowadays, a lot of people are complaining about the long lines, the amount of free comic books each individual gets, etc. But, we’re to help you out, and we’re giving you the name of the local comic shops here in Metro Manila participating in FCBD. It’s gonna be a long and tiring day, as you may line up very early depending on the location. Let’s not forget that FCBD is not just getting all those free stuff and taking advantage of the freebies and discounts, but it’s more about celebrating comics, reading comics, and the gathering of comic book readers/fans!
* THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Screening
One of our most anticipated movies to come out this year will be out this week already! “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” might be awesome or not, but whatever happens we know we’re still gonna watch it because we just love this kind of movie. Of course we’re excited right?! If you haven’t heard of it yet, our team is organizing a screening for the movie. We’ve invited a lot of people, fans and friends from different geeky communities to join our next installment of our Flip The Switch 2014 series.

This is the day when people who love Star Wars should rejoice. This Sunday, head out to Resorts World Manila, don your favorite Star Wars costume, bring your lightsabers or even join our own Philippine Outpost of 501st Legion!
