Claim the Iron Throne the 2nd time around
Fantasy Flight Games, makers of great card and board games releases A Game of Thrones Borad game 2nd edition.
The first edition of A Game of Thrones Board game was released in 2003. It was the first of its kind and many say that it is the mother of all modern tactical board games. The game, based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire book series, lets 3 to 6 players play the role of a Warlord from the 5 Great Houses of Westeros: Stark, Lannister, Baratheon, Greyjoy and Tyrell. Each player vies for the control of the Iron Throne by conquering terriories within Westeros in a winner-take-all game of massive army battles and political intrigue.
The second edition of the game was released last November 23,2011 and is very much faithful to the first albeit with significant changes. Whereas the first edition requires the 2 expansions for the full experience, A Gameof Thrones 2nd Edition includes all the rules and pieces from the base game and expansions with some added rules and mechanics. Noticable differences are: the inclusion of House Martell right at the start (originally available through an expansion), player screens, reference sheets, a redesigned map, plastic playing pieces among others.
The game is currently available in the US initially but a local release is expected soon.
