FIRST IMPRESSION – Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite Story Demo

Fresh off of E3, the playable demo for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite story mode is now available for download. The file size is about 5gig so depending on your internet connection this shouldn’t take too long to download.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is the latest game in the long standing Marvel vs Capcom franchise. It is the 6th installment in the series following Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. The story mode is pretty much everything that you’ve seen in the trailers. Ultron and Sigma forged an alliance and fused themselves in as the game’s main villain “Ultron Sigma”. The demo allows you to use the initial set of heroes namely Captain America, Captain Marvel, Rocket Raccoon, Thor, Arthur, Chris Redfield, Chun-Li, Dante and Nathan Spencer. The following appeared in the cut scenes but are still unplayable are Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Hawkeye, and Strider Hiryu.

The gameplay follows the traditional Marvel vs Capcom series, it’s a fighting game wherein players battle it out in a tag team combat. The demo allows you to use the preset team-ups but does not allow you to select your own combination of players. As expected, Capcom delivers in bringing the heroes to life with bright and colorful graphics mixed with fluid animations. Along with the outstanding visuals comes the dreaded cheesy and cliche dialogues that comes with the fighting games. I guess they’re really sticking with the tradition and not improving it one a bit but it’s still ok, players have gotten used to it.

What I liked most about the demo is the controls. Capcom has simplified to a point that you can just press low punch to deliver combos, and not just regular combos even air combos! For a noob, button smasher player like me, this allows me to enjoy the game even more! Now I could focus more on when to execute these combos instead of thinking how to even begin it.

We’re still months away from it’s release date but the game is already fun to play with! I’m sure that the story demo is still far from being the final product. Aside from the cringeworthy dialogue, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is ok for now. Marvel vs Capcom:Infinite’s visuals and controls are solid but depending on which characters are playable come release date that would be the deciding factor if gamers would pick up this title.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite would be released September 19, 2017 on the Playstation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
