Say goodbye to those fail-safe doors and prepare for even more murderous animatronic mascots because Five Nights of Freddy’s 2 has officially come to Steam Greenlight!

Following in the footsteps of its infamous, critically-acclaimed predecessor – indie survival horror game Five Nights at Freddy’s – the sequel brings you back to the haunted world of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, as a night shift security guard tasked with keeping an eye on the pizzeria’s malfunctioning animatronic mascots and ensuring no trouble occurs (to the place or to you) after hours.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 maintains most aspects of the original Freddy’s gameplay – such as monitoring security footage, conserving your limited office power supply, and maintaining flawless timing to prevent the roaming animatronics from forcefully stuffing you into a spare Freddy Fazbear mechanical robot costume (and killing you in the process).

However, creator Scott Cawthon has also thrown in a few curveballs to make Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 an even more traumatic experience than the original game. One huge change in the sequel is the loss of the security office’s doors – which leaves the player more vulnerable when the mascots are lurking nearby. This “new and improved” Freddy’s also comes with a new cast of animatronic characters, equipped with the latest in facial recognition technology.

With no more doors to protect you, the only thing left to keep you alive is an empty Freddy Fazbear head, which should be enough to fool the animatronics into leaving you alone – assuming they don’t catch you off guard first with their sudden jump-scares!

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 release date is set for 2015 – which should give players a few more months to shake off those traumatic nightmares before taking on another blood-curdling round!

If you’re brave enough to take on psychotic animatronics a second time, check out the trailer below and approve the game on its Greenlight page here. Be sure to let us know your thoughts on the game too in our comments section below!
