NATHAN FOR NATHAN?

Fans of Naughty Dog‘s landmark PlayStation series, Uncharted, are abuzz with excitement as fan-favorite Nathan Fillion teases his acceptance of the role of the game’s protagonist, Nathan Drake, in an upcoming movie adaptation.

Sic Parvis Magna

Earlier today, Fillion posted a picture on Instagram of the rapper, Drake, captioned with the words, “Sic Parvis Magna. 7/16/18.”

The first three words are in Latin and attributed to the English adventurer, Sir Francis Drake. Unofficially Nathan Drake’s in-game motto, the words roughly translate to the slogan used by that chocolate drink, and I don’t mean, “Energy, energy gap.” (It’s, “Great things come from small beginnings,” in case you were still wondering.)

The second part of the caption hints that the big reveal will be made on July 16 early next week.

Some hours later, Fillion posted another picture, this time of a familiar nature to fans of the Uncharted franchise: a desk cluttered with a map, a well-thumbed volume, a notebook, some post-its, and a magnifying glass prominently in the middle of it all. It was captioned with the date, “7/16/18.”

Charted?

Fillion’s name has never been far from discussions of an Uncharted movie since it first generated buzz ten years ago. Fans have noted how his personality and comedic timing that shines in memorable roles such as Mal in Firefly and the titular Castle make him perfect for the role of Nathan Drake. Fast-forward to the present, with Shawn Levy at the helm and Spider-Man star, Tom Holland, along for the ride as young Nathan Drake, the Uncharted movie is getting closer to being made, and the dreams of countless fans of seeing their favorite wisecracking/monologuing global adventurer given life on-screen by an equally loquacious and funny Nathan Fillion may finally come true.

Let’s also hope they have at least a cameo for everyone’s favorite VA, Nath… I mean, Nolan North.
