NINTENDO SWITCH Up For Grabs At THE MANILA SMASH LEAGUE!

PLAYBOOK along with COSMIC GORGONS is inviting all Wii U Super Smash Brothers 4 enthusiasts to The Manila Smash League. The Manila Smash League is a 2-month long tournament, which gathers the best Super Smash Brothers players in the metro. The tournament winner will get to bring home a BRAND NEW NINTENDO SWITCH!

Do you have what it takes to win it all? If yes, here’s all you need to know about the Manila Smash League.

The Manila Smash League will be divided into two conferences, the North and South. Players up north will battle it out at Cosmic Gorgons in Cubao Expo, while players down south will duke it at Playbook in Circuit Makati. Players can only compete and represent one conference for the 7 week long league. Top 8 players from each conference will qualify for the Grand Finals.

Each week, FlipGeeks will be providing you the league standings from each conference. The rest of the tournament details are as follows:

Manila-Smash-League

A. League Details:
-The league will be divided into 2 conferences, Northern and Southern Conferences.
-There are 2 venues for the qualifiers, Cosmic Gorgons for the northern conference and PlayBook Circuit for the southern conference.
-Grand Finals and Wild Card will be played in PlayBook Circuit.
-Players can only choose 1 venue that they will participate in for the weekly ranking matches and must commit to that venue for the 7 week duration of the Ranking tournaments. This determines which conference they are from.
-Players are not allowed to participate in a different conferences weekly tournament.
-Players battle for ranking points during the 7 weekly tournaments.
-Tournament format is double elimination all the way.
-The top 8 players who have accumulated the most number of points from each conference qualify for the Grand Finals.
-A wild card tournament will be held to determine the final 8 participants in the Grand Finals to complete the Top 24.
-Wild card top 8 will join the top 16 to complete the top 24
-Top 4 per conference get a bye in the 1st round.

B. Schedule
Weekly Qualifiers (Every Friday at 7:00PM)
– March 31
– April 7, 21 & 28
– May 5, 12 & 19
Grand Finals & Wild Card May 27, 2017(Saturday) 12:30PM @ PlayBook Circuit

C. Registration Fees
– League Fee: 350 PHP
– Weekly Fee: 150 PHP with Free Drink and Free Casuals from 1:30PM to 12:00AM

D. Prizes
Top 24 Finals
Champion – Nintendo Switch and Manila Smash League Glass Trophy
2nd Place – Long Live Play PH exclusive Merchandise and 60% of Prize Pool
3rd Place – Long Live Play PH exclusive Merchandise and 40% of Prize Pool
4th – 8th – Gift Certificates from Long Live Play PH

*Top 8 in league points from both conferences get exclusive Manila Smash League T-shirts.

E. Point System
Players are awarded points each time they join a weekly ranking tournament. Top 8 in points from both conferences will qualify for the finals on May 27, 2017.
The amount of points earned vary depending on the number of participants in a tournament. The more participants the higher the points you gain for that weekly.

The final scores will be tallied after the final leg and the top 8 in points from each conference books a spot in the Top 24 Finals!
In case of a tie, the officials shall decide based on overall win-loss record of the players.

-Best 2 out of 3 games
-Best 3 out of 5 games (Winners Finals, Losers Finals and Grand Finals)
-Life Stocks: 2
-Time: 6 minutes
-Items: OFF
-Equipment: OFF
-ALL DLCs + Default Mii Fighters: ALLOWED
-ALL Types of controllers: ALLOWED
-Customs: NOT ALLOWED

G. Wild Card Rules
– 1v1 Single Elimination Knock-out until 8 players remain
-Best 2 out of 3 games-Life: 2 stocks
-Time Limit: 6 minutes
-Items: OFF
-Equipment: OFF
-ALL DLCs + Default Mii Fighters: ALLOWED
-ALL Types of controllers: ALLOWED
-Customs: NOT ALLOWED

H. Other Rules
-If a match ends with the successful use of a characters self-destruct move, the results screen will determine the winner
-Any glitches that force the game to freeze are banned and the player who initiated the glitch will disqualify his/her match.

J. Stage Rules
*If Battlefield is banned, Miiverse in turn is banned as well. Both stages treated as one and the same. The same goes for Final Destination and Omegas.

*ALL Omega stages are allowed.
-Starter stage will be determined by Rock-Paper-Scissors. The winner bans 1 stage. The loser bans 2. And the winner then chooses between the 2 remaining stages.
-Following stages decided by winner banning 1 stage from all stages and then loser choosing.
-Winning player is not locked into the same character for the next match, but has to pick before the loser selects character.
-You may not choose a stage you have already won on unless mutually agreed to.
-You may not play on a stage that is not on the available stages list unless mutually agreed to.
-If the clock expires and the total number of stocks of each player is equal, use the final percentage of the players as the tiebreaker; whichever team has a lower sum wins. (A player who has been eliminated has 0 stocks and 0%.)
