Shadow of Mordor Preview

Have you ever wished that you were a ranger living in J.R.R. Tolkien‘s Lord Of The Rings mythos? How about doing so in the same style as Assassin’s Creed and Batman: Arkham series? Well this could be the best game for you guys out there!

From Monolith Studios, the guys who worked on “Guardians of Middle Earth” and Warner Bros. Interactive, the people who brought us blockbuster titles such as “Batman: Arkham City and Origins” and “Injustice: Gods Among Us” comes this potentially huge hit, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor.

The game will put you in the shoes of Talion, a ranger with wraith capabilities. Talion sets on a quest to avenge his family and kill anyone who crosses his path. Unbeknownst to Sauron and his armies, the man who they thought they killed is now resurrected and twice as dangerous after inheriting wraith-like capabilities upon his return from the dead.

The game is being developed along with notable personalities like Peter Jackson and Weta Workshop (the people responsible for TLOTR’s visual/special effects and props). The game is also overseen by Middle Earth Enterprises who owns majority of rights for the LOTR franchise.

The first gameplay footage that we got a glimpse on shows us a lot of the same mechanics as with the Assassin’s Creed franchise and Batman games that we all love. It’s like playing both at the same time only with a different protagonist and a totally different backdrop. Hopefully this game turns out to be a blockbuster as I would expect since I would hate to see one of my favorite franchises tarnished by another mediocrity.

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is set to be out on most gaming systems except the Wii-U, Wii and Ouya sometime this year so watch out for it fellow geeks :)
