The Witcher Sightings

It has been an eventful weekend for Geralt of Rivia, the Witcher. Over the past few days we’ve seen reports of Geralt’s upcoming appearances in video games other than the Witcher franchise.

Bandai Namco Entertainment has recently announced that they have collaborated with CD Projeckt Red for the inclusion of Geralt in the upcoming fighting game, Soul Calibur VI. Not only would be Geralt be a playable character but also his home, Kaer Morhen would be an in-game arena.

Fans would surely recognize Geralt as he clashes with other fighters in Soul Caliber VI as Doug Cockle would also be doing the voice acting for Geralt in Soul Calibur VI.

Marcin Momot, CD Projekt Red’s community lead has this to say about the collaboration; “We’ve collaborated with Bandai Namco artists to faithfully recreate Geralt, and shared original Witcher 3: Wild Hunt assets like Geralt’s model, animations, and weapons. I think Bandai Namco did an outstanding job of capturing all the details and introducing The Witcher to SoulCalibur in a way fans of both series will enjoy.”

Soul Calibur VI is scheduled for a multi-platform release on the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC this 2018.

In other Geralt-related news, aside from his guest appearance in other video games, Geralt would be getting a Nendoroid treatment. Good Smile Company, the company behind Nendoroids just revealed the upcoming Geralt Nendoroid action figure. No other details have been provided as of this writing though online reports suggests that pre-orders may start by next month, April 2018.

There might be no new Witcher games in the near future but it sure is nice to have Geralt appearing in other games and mainstream pop-culture.
