Video Game Easter Eggs You May Have Missed

8. Crysis 2 – Elevator Rave

Somehow, Crytek manages to produce something far more enigmatic than the alien threat your nano-suited brotagonist can encounter in Crysis 2. In the mission “Dead Man Walking”, you can happen upon an elevator that hosts a two-man rave. Man, those two can really tear it up.

7. Dead Island – The 13th Zombie

Dead Island was a by-the-numbers zombie game. Though it offered a unique take on the zombie genre, the inspirations from countless pop-culture horror themes are clear, one perhaps more direct than others. Hidden deep within the game’s open-world lies a powerful ass zombie with a hockey mask and machete. If the reference wasn’t clear enough yet, the thing is even named Jason. Though he doesn’t exactly look like the infamous Vorhees, his high level and not so subtle hints are enough to provide quite the thrill. Why it took this long for an actual Friday the 13th game to be made, I’ll never know.

6. NBA Jam Tournament Edition – Bizzare Hiden Line-up

Many have fond memories of playing NBA Jam back in the day, but did you know that the Tournament Edition came with amazing albeit unusual unlockable characters? Ranging from political figures like Al Gore and the then United States president Bill Clinton to celebrities like Will Smith(Fresh Prince of Bel Air) and members of the Beastie Boys. Yep, it was pretty wild.

5. Halo 4 – Conan O’Brien and Andy Richter as marines

I don’t know why but for some reason, famed talk show host Conan O’ Brien and his wingman Andy Richter landed a sort of cameo on Halo 4. In the game, there are a couple of marines that, if you stick around, will eventually start bantering. To the uninitiated, it would seem like meaningless NPC chatter, but those familiar with Conan and Andy’s work will immediately recognize this talk show reference. The chemistry between these two stars is not lost in Halo 4 and is a good distraction from all the aliens and shooting.
