Video Game Easter Eggs You May Have Missed
4. Just Cause 2 – “Lost” island
Plenty of games have references to Lost, for some reason, but not many do it at the scale Just Cause 2 have. At the far corner of this open-world sandbox is the entire island modeled after the television show’s proverbial Island. This island is filled with Lost references that you can explore every inch of. This is probably the biggest pop culture easter egg in any video game. Whoopie.
3. Halo: Combat Evolved – This is it, baby. Hold me
The first game in what would become Microsoft’s biggest video game franchise had a pretty good easter egg reserved for the most hardcore of Halo players. After completing the game on the highest ‘legendary’ difficulty setting, players were caught off-guard with a surprise cutscene where Seargent Johnson that locks eyes with a covenant elite and utters out “This is it, baby. Hold me.” then proceeds to hug each other tightly as Pillars of Autumn selfs destructs. It was magical.
2. Final Fantasy Tactics – Cloud and Aerith Reunion
Cloud Strife being recruitable in Final Fantasy Tactics is an easter egg in and of itself. But in one scenario Cloud encounters a “flower girl”, who sports a striking resemblance to Aerith Gainsborough, being harrassed by a bunch of thugs. It’s not exactly Aerith, but it was incredibly touching reunion nonetheless minus the thugs.
