Want To See Final Fantasy XV And Kingdom Hearts III at E3 2014? It’s Not Happening. At All.

Looking forward to see some tidbits for Square Enix‘ much coveted Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III this year on E3? Well, it’s not happening, according to Square Enix exec Shinji Hashimoto.

In an interview with Famitsu, Hashimoto revealed that there won’t be new info about the aforementioned games at this year’s E3. Who knows, maybe Square Enix will change its mind! But if anyone would know what Square Enix is doing at E3, it’s Hashimoto, who helms the Final Fantasy brand.

“First, I just want to say that Final Fantasy XV‘s development is progressing favorably,” Hashimoto said. “In the company, we’re always trying to figure out the optimal timing to release new information to the fans. We decided that this year’s E3 is not the most suitable time to release such information.”, says Hashimoto.

If we’re to look back to 2006, Final Fantasy XV was originally planned as a part of FFXIII’s Fabula Nova Crystalis trilogy under the title Final Fantasy Versus XIII, one that Final Fantasy Type Zero previously became a part of. However, as development progressed, the producers decided to helm Versus into a separate FF incarnation, hence, XV was born. A couple of announcements and reveals were made as well alongside the big change, but so far, no other updates were given.

Continuing, Hashimoto added, “Instead, we are preparing for an event after E3 to make new announcements.”

In consolation, they have released a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 2.5, which was also delayed and pushed back. Demo units of the game will be playable this coming E3.
