This latest installment is slightly better than the previous installments of POTC.

Still very much satisfactory.

Walt Disney Pictures’ new high-seas adventure Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge sailed to a triumphant start at the Philippine box-office at No.1 as it nabbed an opening day gross of P14.5-M nationwide May 24. This was announced by a spokesman of Walt Disney Studios Philippines.
Salazar’s Revenge is the fifth film in the now iconic Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise, which returns Johnny Depp to his Academy Award®-nominated role as the outrageous, swashbuckling antihero Captain Jack Sparrow. Depp is joined in this new adventure with Oscar® winners Javier Bardem and Geoffrey Rush, and cast members both new and familiar to Pirates of the Caribbean fans.
With much hype and teasers, Pirates of the Caribbean franchise returns with their latest installment called “Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge/Dead Men Tell No Tales”. In celebration of the upcoming film, some lucky Disneyland park guests got more than they bargained for when Johnny Depp, as Captain Jack Sparrow surprised fans aboard the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary (check the video above).
The film starts off with Captain Jack Sparrow feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.
Compared to the franchise’s previous installments, Salazar’s Revenge’s story might cover all the same feels as the 2003 original, but still lacks the original film’s magic. Though it has captured some sparks. Ever since Gore Verbinsky left the franchise, it has never been the same. The magical formula that made that first film sail so successfully is gone with the wind. Though the franchise has been raking in million dollars, fans and critics alike seem to leave each subsequent film less and less satisfied.
The original storylines of the new characters have intertwined with the familiar faces of the franchise, which hits longtime fans with nostalgia. While a lot of the critics are disappointed with the fifth installment of the POTC franchise, there are a few good things about this film: Goota commend Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) who brings a piece of fresh mischief to this film. For longtime fans who wants to see familiar faces, this film brings old and new together
The film is alternatively titled in the US as Pirates of the caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Stay for the post-credits scenes! Here’s a teaser: Pirates of the Caribbean meets Stranger Things.
Catch Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge in Digital 3D, 2D, 4DX and IMAX 3D. Still in cinemas nationwide!
