FINALLY – METAL GEAR SOLID to get HOLLYWOOD treatment

Finally! After a decade of wishing for a Metal Gear Solid movie, it looks like it’s gonna happen! This is certainly one of the best news alongside the announcement of the Metal Gear Solid 5 prologue — MGS: Ground Zeroes (watch the amazing gameplay trailer here) during the 25th celebration of Metal Gear Solid this year.

“Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. announces that its popular game, METAL GEAR SOLID,” will be made into a live-action, Hollywood movie.
METAL GEAR SOLID’s deep story and cinematic elements have won over fans around the world and is one of the most recognized titles from the METAL GEAR series, which is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year. METAL GEAR earned the Guiness World Records™’s honor as “The first game to fully utilize stealth as part of the gameplay” and has won acclaim and numerous awards both domestically and worldwide.
The METAL GEAR series pioneered the stealth game genre, whose main character avoids battles while infiltrating the enemies’ base on a solo mission.  The total global sales of the series ha? exceeded 32.4 million units.*
 
The producers for the film will be Avi Arad and Ari Arad. Avi has worked on numerous blockbuster hits like the “Spider-Man” and “X-MEN” series and “Iron Man.” Mr. Arad is the founder of Marvel Studios and has had much experience and success in converting comics and other forms of entertainment into live-action movies and so there is much anticipation for this new facet of METAL GEAR.
The movie will be developed by Mr. Arad’s production company, Arad Productions, together with Columbia Pictures. The production and distribution will be managed by Sony Pictures Entertainment.
