Joss Whedon Talks About QuickSilver and Scarlet Witch, and Casting Saoirse Ronan

Just recently, there has been a little standoff between 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios because both had revealed plans on including Quicksilver in their movies. Quicksilver has already been cast, with actor Evan Peters for the upcoming X-Men movie by Bryan SingerDays of Future Past” by Fox. While Joss Whedon has confirmed that he’ll be including Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in his script for “Avengers 2″ of Marvel Studios.

In his recent guesting on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon”, Whedon explained why he wants the two siblings to be part of Avengers 2: “Besides the fact that I grew up reading them, their powers are very visually interesting. One of the problems I had on the first one was, everybody basically had punchy powers. ‘I can hit,’ ‘I can also hit.’ Hopefully it didn’t get too boring. But coming into the second one, he’s got super speed, she can weave spells and a little telekinesis, get inside your head. There’s good stuff that they can do that will help sort of keep it fresh.

Although Days of Future Past will be shown earlier that Avengers 2, we still don’t know if Whedon would just ignore what the X-men movie will show. Currently, there has no casting yet for Quicksilver in Avengers 2, but for Scarlet Witch, it was said that Whedon is building the character to suit actress Saoirse Ronan. According to some sources, this is what Ronan has to say — “I have heard about it and yes, I would. Yeah, of course I would. I love Joss and I love those films, and I love his handle on them and how he portrayed these kinds of superheroes. I think it’s very different from what anyone else has done. So yeah, I’d love to be in it.
