Need A Reason To Go See RUSH ?

When we got invited for a media screening of RUSH a few weeks back, the title of the movie didn’t ring a bell. If you haven’t heard of this movie, mainly because of geeky movie news here and there, well we’ll give you some thoughts on why you should definitely see this!

Rush is directed by Ron Howard, same guy who made acclaimed films like Cocoon, Apollo 13 and A Beautiful Mind. With Rush, it is no exception that this beautiful deserves a spot up there with those films. Howard and the crew made sure that we get the Formula 1 driving experience when we watch Rush, and they certainly did a good job especially with superb cinematography and direction of how the cameras were shot were really great. Sure we had good modern movies with racing such as the Fast and Furious series, but Rush is on a different playing field. The movie has the complete package – drama, humor, deep content and lots of ‘feels’ (which Howard has displayed amazingly ever since), and action on the race track. Because of this movie, I immediately rushed to the my computer and searched for the Lauda & Hunt rivalry, and made me wanna go get a Formula 1 game.

The movie definitely did the right choices in casting, it had Chris Hemsworth who portrayed James Hunt with flair, Daniel Brühl as the intelligent Niki Lauda, other casts include Olivia Wilde and Natalie Dormer. Another note about the movie was its great focus on characters, Chris and Daniel definitely did a good job in portraying the characters especially their attitudes may it be in their personal life, in their rivalry.

Rush showcases two stars – Lauda and Hunt. Both have flaws, and both are very different. But the similar thing about them is their passion in racing especially towards their goal of becoming a world champion. During the movie it is not hard to choose sides, but after watching you’ll definitely love both.

This movie is certainly not to be missed, it’s quality is unparalleled by other movies released this year. I’m giving it a 9.75  / 10.

Watch the trailer below, and go catch RUSH which opens September 18.

Special thanks to our friends from Captive Cinema for the invite!
