OFFICIAL: A Film Adaptation of George Orwell’s “1984” Is In The Works!

2-bigbrother_1984

The highly acclaimed sci-fi classic by George Orwell, 1984 is finally coming to life yet again in a bigger screen (It was once filmed back in 1956), thanks to Sony Pictures with Paul Greengrass (known for directing the last 2 Damon-Bourne films and recently Captain Phillips) at the helm alongside James Graham (Who wrote the book of the famous musical, Finding Neverland) to pen the script of the film.

In case you don’t know, George Orwell wrote the novel, 1984 back in 1943 where he envisioned a future of a totalitarian ruled Great Britain government, where an omnipresent being known as Big Brother is watching over every move of the citizens of the country. The main protagonist, Winston is disgusted with his oppressed life and secretly longs to join the fabled Brotherhood, a supposed group of underground rebels intent on overthrowing the government. But that soon changes when he finds himself being in a middle of a conspiracy that could risk his own life and falls in love (which is a crime).

So far they did not announce an official release date (maybe after Greengrass finishes the new Bourne film) or the cast list as of writing.

With that said, A FRIENDLY REMINDER:

1984
