Pacific Rim 2 Script Is On The Way
For those of us that wanted a sequel to Pacific Rim, we now have a reason to rejoice!
Director Guillermo Del Toro reveals that he was already working on the script with Zak Penn in an interview with BuzzFeed.
“I’m working very, very hard with Zak Penn. We’ve been working for a few months now in secret. We found a way to twist it around. Travis Beacham (co-writer of the first film, now working on Fox’s Hieroglyph) was involved in the storyline and now I’m writing with Zak because Travis has become a TV mogul.”

The Director also said that Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam) and Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) will be returning for the sequel.There were rumors that the next Pacific Rim movie will be a prequel. Fans speculated that it would focus on the first wave of Kaijus and earlier Jaeger models but Guillermo Del Toro dismissed the idea.
“Some people were wondering if we were going to do the prequel. I was never interested in doing that first wave of invasion,” del Toro said. “I’m going for very new, very crazy ideas on the second one, which are very different from the first one — but you will get really great spectacle.”
The bad news is that Legendary Pictures has not formally agreed to put the script into production. The filmmaker did say that he and Penn will continue to finish the script.
