Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS Trailer and connection with ALIEN [images]

“In the late 21st century, a star map is discovered within the imagery of Aztec, Mesopotamian and Magdalenian cultures. The crew of the spaceship Prometheus is sent on a scientific expedition to follow the map as part of a mission to find the origins of mankind. Exploring the advanced civilization of an extraterrestrial race, they soon face a threat to humanity’s very existence.”

Acclaimed filmmaker Ridley Scott who brought us ALIEN now brings us to a future not too distant from the present in “PROMETHEUS 3D” with an impressive ensemble cast starring Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba , Guy Pearce and Logan Marshall with screenplay by Damon Lindelof (creator of tv’s phenomenal series “Lost”). Fassbender (300, X-Men First Class), Charlize (The Italian Job, Snow White & The Huntsman) is already a major plus points for me in casting, but it’s also great to see Idris Elba (Thor, Rocknrolla) and Guy Pearce (Memento, Count of Monte Cristo).

Slated for a June release here in the Philippines, PROMETHEUS is certainly one of the most anticipated movies for this year alongside – The Avengers, Hunger Games, The Dark Knight Rises and The Hobbit. What really makes PROMETHEUS extra special is that it is currently concieved as a sequel to Ridley’s 1979 film – ALIEN. Now, if you don’t believe the hype surrounding the movie and its connection with ALIEN, then you MUST watch the trailer below — and if you can, watch it in glorious HD!

Cool, huh?! It’s been a while since we got a sci-fi movie, the last one was a favorite of mine: JJ Abram’s Star Trek, and no, Avatar doesn’t count hehe. Watching the trailer, listening to that deep, suspense building background music it just adds to the thrill of waiting for the movie. And with the trailer and all the hype surrounding the movie, it just deepens the mystery revolving Prometheus – whether it is an Alien sequel or an entirely new take on the Alien mythology, we’ll just have to wait and see. Though Ridley has already stated that the film would take some bits from Alien and would exist in the same Alien universe, nevertheless it would still be very awesome to see what Ridley has in store for us now that his vision can be realized more because of today’s technology.

Since there has been a lot of talk about the connection between Prometheus and Alien, we gathered some images from scenes of the trailer and images from Alien. First up’s an image from the trailer which shows a mural that undenialby looks like a zenomorph:

There’s also this interesting story regarding the plot of Prometheus, that the humanoid seen in the first part of the trailer could have been a Homo Sapien and it is responsible in the creation of the Xenomorphs and that the film would revolve around the discovery behind it.
