Ten Animated Movies You Should Catch on A Weekend

The Holidays are over! Back to reality. Got the holiday hangover? Here are some beloved animated films you can binge-watch this weekend to bust those first week blues:

(This list is not arranged according to my ratings)

THE POLAR EXPRESS

AN1

Based on the 1985 children’s book with same title by Chris Van Allsburg, The Polar Express was released in 2004 and is one of the films that warms my heart during the holiday season. The holidays ain’t over yet! (We’re just in denial that it’s back to reality now.) Relive the holiday season by hopping aboard the train to the North Pole!

HOSHI NO KOE (VOICES OF A DISTANT STAR)

AN2

Everyone knows this director from his recent hit, Your Name that had widespread fame all over the world. Hoshi no Koe is one of Shinkai’s earliest works which has already solidified my respect for the director. He is the animator, director, writer and producer for this short film. Talk about talent, blood, sweat, tears and a bucket of determination to get this film out! The film is about the love story of Japanese high school students Mikako Nagamine and Noboru Tera is tested when Mikako is sent to fight aliens in a distant universe and voice mails to and from Earth become months to years in transmission. Imagine if Gundam was directed and animated by Shinkai.
