The Five STAR WARS Stories That Deserve Film Treatment
THE TRAGEDY OF REVAN
I’d say, one cannot be a hardcore Star Wars fan without touching the story of Revan. For starters, Darth Revan is a former Jedi who, along with Malak, left the Order to lead the fight in the Mandalorian Wars due to the Jedi’s lack of initiative. He soon founded the Sith and declared war against the Republic, leading to the events of Knights of The Old Republic.
It was then revealed that his intentions in igniting the conflict were altruistic: He is planning to unite the Galaxy in order to destroy the threat of the Sith Empire and bring balance to the Force. His plans were eventually exposed, and he was betrayed by Darth Malak during one of their conquests. Finding a reason to live in the form of his love interest and Jedi Knight Bastilla Shan, he returned to the Order and defeated Malak. However, a string of events will drag Revan back to the Dark Side, galvanizing Bastilla’s ancestors and the Sith to unite together to stop him.
Perhaps one of the best tragedies in the Star Wars franchise, Revan’s story is filled with themes of betrayal, conflict, and ultimately, redemption. Though the character was subtly depicted in an episode of Dave Filoni’s The Clone Wars, it will be a real treat to see spin-offs featuring the character.
