X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Looks For Its Cyclops and Jean Grey

20th Century FOX’s X-Men: Apocalypse, hot off the heels of the game-changing Days of Future Past, is set to cast younger versions of Scott Summers and Jean Grey, both known for their superhero identities as Cyclops and Phoenix, respectively.

Three names have been thrown into the hats of both characters, with Elle Fanning, who played Aurora in Maleficent, and True Grit’s Hailee Steinfeld are being eyed for the role alogside Chloe Moretz, best-known for her roles as Carrie and Hit-Girl.

While the shortlist of actresses being considered for the role of Jean Grey consist of established young names, the general consensus is that Fox is eyeing a fresh face for Cyclops. Star of the recent blockbuster Interstellar, Timothee ChalametBen Hardy from East Enders and Charlie Rowe from Red Band Society are the main names that are currently being tossed around.

X-Men: Apocalypse, directed by Bryan Singer, is due for a May 27, 2016. The film will round out a second trilogy of movies based on the mutant team that began with X-Men: First Class, and will feature the titular character Apocalypse as the main villain.
