Freeform releases MARVEL’S CLOAK & DAGGER Trailer
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is coming to Freeform in late 2018 (it’s still up in the air when it will air in the Philippines) and we finally get our first look at it.
The Disney-owned network dropped the show’s first trailer early Wednesday during its upfront in New York and from what we’ve seen it’s got all the makings of a good television show – a comic based drama series filled with action, danger, romance, and teenage angst.
The show stars Aubrey Joseph and Olivia Holt as the titular characters. If you’re familiar with these characters it’s probably because you’ve seen them in some Spider-man or X-men stories. And if you’re not familiar with these runaway heroes, don’t worry, we’ll give you a brief rundown.
Joseph will play Tyrone Johnson aka Cloak, a 17-year-old runaway from Boston with a debilitating stutter. Tyrone ran away after an incident with the police that left one of his friends dead. Holt, on the other hand will play Tandy Bowen aka Dagger. She grew up from a starkly different background. Bowen is a 16-year-old rich girl from Ohio, who ran away from a supermodel mother who was too busy to spend time with her. The two eventually meet and fall in love at the same time they are awakened to newly acquired superpowers.
As for their powers, Tyrone can teleport and pass through any physical matter. He can also do a ton of cool stuff through the shadows of his cloak. For her part, Dagger can create “daggers of light” hence the name. She also has the ability to heal people (hopefully we get to see that in the show too).
Together they fight crime and take names.
The 10-episode season is being helmed by Joe Pokaksi whose works include Daredevil and Heroes.
