Road to Rakrakan Festival 2015: Rock ‘Til you Drop!

It was a scorching afternoon, traffic was bad and I was running late for the event. I’d say it’s another case of Murphy’s Law however as fate would have it, I made just in time and my day instantly turned from bad to awesome!

Rakista Radio hosted the presscon/roadshow to possibly the biggest OPM event of the year which is the “Rakrakan Festival: Rock ‘Til you Drop! A brief background for those who are not familiar with Rakrakan Festival, it was actually called Rakrakan Series which was a bi-annual concert series. Rakrakan Series ran from 2005-2012 and featured about 20-30 bands. These concert series was a success which blossomed into what we know as the Rakrakan Festival today!

We know that this is not the usual fare that you get in our site and you might wonder what to expect at the festival. With over 70 bands playing in one venue at Circuit Makati, you’d be treated to a huge celebration of Original Pilipino Music! Rakrakan Festival features three stages namely Mosh, Move and Groove that cater different musical tastes!

Some of the bands to expect are Rakrakan regulars Slapshock, Queso, Wilabaliw, Chicosci, Kwjan, Skychurch and Valley of Chrome. At this year’s Rakrakan Festival we’ll also get to witness the final time Urbandub go up the stage before they go on their indefinite hiatus. If you need a reason to go, this has got to be it!

Rakrakan Festival will, for the first time, see performances from Wolfgang, The Late Isabel and Faspitch at the Mosh stage; Franco, Rouge and Nobela over at the Move stage; Paranoid City, BP Valenzuela, Taken by Cars and Techy Romantics at the Groove stage.

At the presscon, we were lucky enough to get a teaser of what to expect at Rakrakan. We saw performances from Gracenote (representing Move stage), Jeck Pilpil (Groove) and Subculture (Mosh). These bands clearly represent what Rakrakan Festival is all about. The bands are all passionate about music, whether they perform in a front of a large audience or in a bar, they give it their all! This is something that Flipgeeks and Rakrakan share, passion. May it be movies, television, gaming or music; we are all passionate about the things we love.
