Bryan Hitch Leaves Marvel after a Decade Starts Work on America’s Got Powers for Image

Marvel Comics exclusive artist Bryan Hitch recently announced that he has left the House of Ideas and is ready to work on creator owned materials which he announced through his Twitter account.

The artist made waves on the pages of the first and second volume of “The Ultimates” together with writer Mark Millar. Since then he has worked with a number of critically acclaimed titles and story arcs with different writers including “The Avengers” writer Brian Michael Bendis.

Hitch has, moved on to bigger things now. He has announced that he will be starting 2012 with a new project for Image Comics pairing up with writer Jonathan Ross for a book entitled “AGP” or “America’s Got Powers”.

Comic book website Bleedingcool has more in-depth details regarding this new creator owned project including a synopsis.

The comic tells the story of Tommy, a San Franciscan teenager who works selling merchandise at the stadium that hostsAmerica’s Got Powers, a TV reality show that recruits new members for America’s number one superhero team.

Tommy was one of the many San Franciscan children born at the same time eighteen years ago, all with super powers – all that is, except for Tommy. Who now finds himself working, watching all his peers in action.

But somehow, this season, he finds himself finds himself successfully entering the show – powerless.

Basically it’s The Midwich Cuckoos Meets America’s Got Talent. Possibly with a bit of Planetary.

So what about that dream project entitled “Ultron War” over at Avengers with Bendis?

According to Hitch, his parts of the story are already complete. Meaning we don’t have to worry about anything related to that book.
