Captain America Co-Creator Joe Simon Passes Away

Captain America co-creator Joe Simon passed away at the age of 98.

Together with comic book legend Jack Kirby, Simon created the Sentinel of Liberty – Captain America back during World War II.

After a rift with Timely Comics, the company that will soon become Marvel Comics, the tandem of Kirby and Simon transferred to National Comics (soon to be DC Comics) and was handed the character Captain Marvel (the Shazam one, not the Kree character) in the form of the book Captain Marvel Adventures # 1 which was the spin-off of the book Whiz Comics.

In the years that followed, Mr. Simon also worked in other mediums. During Marvel’s “Death of Captain America” event, Simon was seen doing the rounds in various TV shows showing his sentiments regarding the character’s death.
