COMIC BOOK REVIEW: Our Love is Real

Reviewing “Our Love is Real” by Sam Humphries and Steven Sanders

The book has been making the rounds through different comic book websites and has been hailed by a lot of creators as a really great book that I decided to give it a whirl.

The story was short and very compelling. Gotta hand it to the creators for having the balls to get this out as this is very in your face (in a good way) and even if the topic of sexual preference might not be your cup of tea, it doesn’t show graphic contents with regards to Sex.

Violence is one thing as Officer Jok is a riot police that loves his violence. Even taking it out of poor, hapless Vegisexuals (don’t ask, just read it).

Despite that, the dialogue is pretty good and has a mature or even adult twist to it.

Now for the bad parts, the book is obviously not your average book. Not only is the first print hard to find these days the book closes pretty neatly. Why is that bad, because we won’t be able to read more of these types of tales.

Tear all the bad and the good things, the story is about love and finding it in the right (or wrong) places.

Another sad part for the book is with regards to the topics. Its all about sex. But not just any kind of sex. Its sex either with dogs, sex with vegetables and even sex with minerals. It kinda leaves a bad taste in the mouth but hey we’ve seen much worse in stuff like Preacher and Hellblazer right?

Overall, I’d say that the book is worth the hype and if you chance upon it, you might want to grab it. ( Word on the street is that the book will be reprinted by Image Comics).

Verdict: 4 1/2 out of 5
