COMIC BOOK REVIEW: Supercrooks # 4

Comic book review for Supercrooks # 4 by Mark Millar and Leinil Francis Yu.

Here it is. The final issue of Millar and Yu’s “Supercrooks” saga. The buildup to the moment in this book was totally awesome and without spoiling too much details, yes its definitely an “Ocean’s Eleven” story with supervillains involved.

I am totally happy with the outcome of this story. I mean, shyeah, maybe these are bad guys we’re cheering for hey, you definitely grow fond of them thanks to Millar’s able scripting and character development together with Yu’s kinetic and highly stylized artwork.

I can honestly say that Supercrooks # 4  was one of those books that’ll initially hit you as having a bad ending for everybody involved but when you turn towards the last page, you’ll know that everybody gets home a winner. Well except for The Bastard who got totally owned in this issue.

There twist towards the end was pretty smart too and considering how things went out smoothly for every member of this rowdy gang, I’d say it was perfect. The Bastard never knew what hit him till the very last minute. Brilliant play on that!

Gerry Alanguilan and Sunny Gho’s work was incredible as well. It was as if this motley crew really pulled out all the stops to deliver a satisfying ending to an already engaging super powered crime caper.

Finally Millar provided a way to give his Filipino fans a nod towards the end. Leinil even lent a hand by doing the transalation for that great panel. It’s definitely a book worth buying in either singles format or in a collected edition.

VERDICT: 10/10
