To commemorate the theatrical release of Wonder Woman this June, DC Entertainment has officially declared June 3 as the first ever Wonder Woman Day. The celebration will honor the 75 year-long history of the beloved superhero around the world.

In the US, DC Comics has partnered up with retailers, such as Barnes & Noble and Amazon, for exclusive in-store promotions and activities.

As part of the celebration, DC Comics will be giving away free copies of two special issue in participating stores — Wonder Woman Day Special Edition #1, which reprints last year’s Wonder Woman #1 by Greg Rucka and Liam Sharp, and DC Super Hero Girls Wonder Woman Day Special Edition #1, which features a chapter from the upcoming DC Super Hero Girls Vol. 3 graphic novel by Shea Fontana and Yancey Labat. Plus, a downloadable Wonder Woman Day Activity Kit will be available.

Comic book creators who have worked on the character will also be attending various live events on that day, including Greg Rucka, Phil Jimenez, Cliff Chiang, Shea Fontana, Marc Andreyko, and Cat Staggs.

In addition, DC’s online digital series DC All Access will run a special Wonder Woman themed series of segments from May 29 – June 3. The week long program will offer reading recommendations for the character and interviews with comic book and movie talent.

Opening on June 1 locally, Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins and stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Connie Nielsen and David Thewlis.
