GEEKLY EXPERIENCE: Comic Odyssey Event – LEINIL FRANCIS YU Signing for ULTIMATE AVENGERS VS NEW ULTIMATES #1

Yesterday, I had an amazing day at Comic Odyssey. It was their event premiering Marvel’s ULTIMATE AVENGERS VS NEW ULTIMATES #1 – Death of Spider-Man with their supreme guest Filipino artist, Leinil Francis Yu. Many people varies fans, comic book enthusiasts, and comic book/komiks artists, writers and creators visited and supported. I was informed by Comic Odyssey owner – Sandy Sansolis that all of their stock of the said Marvel title were already reserved and sold. From what I’ve observed almost all of their inventory of Leinil Francis Yu-related comics were bought throughout the day.

Leinil was really nice and cool with the people in his line. There were some folks who brought their sketches and portfolios to show them to him for review. There was suddenly, I might say, like a mini-private “Leinil 101″. A lot of cameras were flashing on that day. Right after the very first camera shot, Leinil informed everybody that please don’t tag him on Facebook. Everyone laughed.

After a few hours, Jeff Huet and Jason Paz arrived in the store, and started signing also. More people came. More fans. More supporters came like, the Sketchpad group, Harvel Tolibao, Jay David Ramos, Budjette Tan, Ronald Tan, Ed Tadeo, Gio Paredes, Gilbert Monsanto and other awesome people in the komiks/comic bookk industry. I guess, everybody in that shop, yesterday, were merrier than before.

Everybody buying comics & talking about comics, and supporting their own, Leinil Francis Yu. It was a wonderful day.

Next week, Comic Odyssey will host another sale and event: Silver Surfer #1 Premiere with special guests: Stephen Segovia & Harvey Tolibao.
