Hollywood has always had a dark side, and for writer Ed Brubaker, known for his crime fiction work as well as his acclaimed runs on Batman and Captain America, and artist Sean Phillips, who’s had work on the likes of Hellblazer and Wild C.A.T.S., set to explore the it, all beneath the glitz and glamour of Tinseltown with THE FADE OUT.

THE FADE OUT marks the first comic to be released under Brubaker and Phillips’ five-year exclusive deal under Image Comics. “The glitz and glamor, the fact so much of that world was all lies and masks and fake names, and it really feels like post-World War II Hollywood was almost a gold rush,” Brubaker said, in an article published on Image’s website, “So many people rushing to L.A. dreaming of fame and fortune, and willing to do anything to make it happen.”

Brubaker and Phillips are no strangers to working with one another, as the two have collaborated in other titles. namely FATALE, also for Image, in 2012 and CRIMINAL for Marvel’s Icon. Both titles represented a noir style and vibe of storytelling, which is also a dominant theme for this upcoming comic. THE FADE OUT VOLUME 1 is set to be released on February 25 and March 10, in comic book stores and bookstores, respectively.
