Komiket to publish KOMIKS CUM LAUDE

Launching at the Feb25 Komiket at Centris Elements QC, you can meet and greet the student creators form 9AM to 7PM, and have your books signed. You can also get to know them more in the Komiket Talks on the Feb26 Komiket at Fully Booked BGC (U-View), 7PM to 9PM. Who knows, you might bring home limited edition items or win original artworks in the raffle.

First in the line-up of Komiks Cum Laude student authors are the 1st Komiket Awards winners, Mich Cervantes (Best Komiks and Best Komiks Writer for “Itch”) and JC Panlilio, Aljon Perdon & JV Fuentecilla (Best Komiks Artist and Best Student Komiks for “Agila”). Both winners are graduates of DLS-CSB.

Diklap Aytin is the youngest among the student creators. He’s only 13 and studies in Ateneo Junior High School, but Diklap is no freshman in Cubao Expo art markets. Diklap is also a graduate of Komiket’s Comic Book Creator’s Workshop. Also representing the workshop is Jess Santiago & Jez Nabong’s “Things To Remember” (Batch1), whose first comic book is about an elderly couple living with Alzheimer’s disease, and Tori Tadiar’s Spanish colonial fantasy “Sagala” (Batch2).

The student comic book anthology is a project of Komiket Inc., the organizers of The Filipino Komiks and Art Market. Co-editors of the anthology are founding members Paolo Herras and Mark Navarro.

“Right now, more and more student creators are creating personal and introspective stories that are beautiful in both art and storytelling. The chosen student comics reflect a new generation of storytellers and how they make sense of the world they live in, which is a reflection of our world. They teach us new ways to see, experience, solve and survive our present day world. We hope to capture this milestone in Filipino Komiks through Komiks Cum Laude,” says co-editors Mark Navarro and Paolo Herras.
