LUMBERJANES Vol. 1 Trade Paperback Goes to Fifth Printing, Plus a Live-Action Movie

lumberjanes_5th_printBOOM! Studios has announced that the first volume of the Lumberjanes trade paperback is going for a fifth printing, after the first four printings have completely sold out on a distributor level. According to BOOM!, 65,000 copies of the book have been sold to comic book stores and other outlets.

But it seems this is only one of the many upcoming successes to the series. 20th Century Fox has acquired the film rights for Lumberjanes with BOOM! Studios producing the film. Founder and Chief Executive Ross Richie, President of Development Stephen Cristy, and Senior Vice President of Film Adam Yoelin will serve as co-producers.

The Eisner Award nominated Lumberjanes was co-created by Shannon Watters, Grace Ellis, and Noelle Stevenson, with main series artist Brooke Allen. The series follows a group of five girls spending summer together as they deal with the strange supernatural occurrences they encounter.

“The entire team is excited for the opportunity to expose the comic to a wider audience and legions of young hardcore lady-types everywhere,” said Watters, Ellis, Stevenson, and Allen in a joint statement.
