Marvel Prepares For CIVIL WAR II

A sequel to the 2006 crossover event Civil War has been officially announced by Marvel, titled Civil War II for 2016.

The original Civil War is written by Mark Millar and drawn by Steve McNiven, and pitted our beloved heroes against each other. It introduced the Superhero Registration Act designed to hold supeheroes accountable for their actions, and also serve under official government regulation. The main theme of the comic served as the basis for the upcoming Marvel Studios film Captain America: Civil War.

Now a decade later, Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez are set to take over the reins for Civil War II.

“The original Civil War is one of the most important Marvel comics ever, and we are all very excited to have come up with what we hope is a story worthy of the title,” says Bendis. “If you are scared of earth shattering Marvel events where no one is safe… be afraid, be very afraid.”

Civil War is rightly thought of by many as the landmark Marvel event and it’s a huge challenge to live up to the example set by Steve McNiven and Dexter Vines,” says Marquez. “Working on this book is a huge honor and an amazing opportunity to really push myself and show what I’m capable of artistically, and it’s also just great fun to get to pull out all the toys from the Marvel toy box!”

Civil War II is coming 2016.
