Matt Fraction’s SEX CRIMINALS Is Making Its Way To Television

Jon and Suzie

In 2013, Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky debuted Sex Criminals from Image Comics. It has become quite a success, and now comic book power couple Matt Fraction and Kelly Sue DeConnick is bringing the series to television.

Reported by Deadline, Fraction and DeConnick had made a two-year deal with Universal TV where the creators can adapt its own comics and also original TV concepts. No further details have been revealed yet other than Sex Criminals being the first one to be adapted.

“We’re always excited to usher in fresh voices to the television space, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with Matt and Kelly Sue, a fantastic pair whose award-winning comics are as deeply realized as they are entertaining,” said Universal TV EVP Bela Bajaria.

Matt Fraction has done a lot of critically-acclaimed independent comics in the past few years, such as ODY-C (with Christian Ward), Casanova (with Gabriel Bá and Fábio Moon), and Satellite Sam (with Howard Chaykin). Kelly Sue DeConnick debuted in the creator-owned scene in 2013 with Pretty Deadly (with Emma Rios) and currently writes Bitch Planet (with Valentine De Landro). Both writers also did writing work for Marvel on The Invincible Iron Man, Hawkeye, and Captain Marvel.

Sex Criminals is a comedy comic book series that follows couple Jon and Suzie who discover they can freeze time upon reaching orgasm. The comic series is very NSFW, depicting various sexual acts as well as full illustrations of private genitals. With that kind of concept, it is surely for mature readers only. So it will be interesting to see how they adapt the comic into TV.
