Nothing Gets More Emo-ish Than ‘Lil Depressed Boy

I got to hand it to Image Comics for giving The ‘Lil Depressed Boy a shot at mainstream.

The character and the book is written by S. Steven Struble with art and pencils done by Sina Grace.

The book chronicles the love and loss of the titular character Lil Depressed Boy (or LDB to some of his friends).

It’s got cute looking characters acting, emoting and pining for real looking characters.

While I’m praising Image Comics for having the balls to publish this great looking comic book, I’m praising Struble and Grace for putting the biggest element in LDB that makes it so completely relatable and unique – a heart.

You won’t have trouble finding LDB and you won’t even have a hard time looking for it when you hit the local LCS (that’s local comic shop for you). The current issue as of review time is # 4 so you won’t have to worry about confusing backstories and continuity.

What I found lacking in Lil Depressed Boy is the amount of pages. Yup. Sobrang bitin ang bawat issue that you’d probably want to wait for the complete trade paper back if you want to full dose of emo-ness.

It doesn’t necessarily require you to be an emo-guy but it would be a great idea to go and listen to screamo and emo songs while reading the book. You’ll find that it complements really well with the happenings in the book.

I was particularly listening to a lil bit of Taking Back Sunday and some Dashboard Confessional while reading the book.

BASAG!
