Rebooted DCU : The Fuss and What to Get ? — Part 2

If you missed Part 1, click here. So far we have recommend only these : Superman, Aquaman and Green Lantern books. Now let’s take a look at the BATMAN books:

BATMAN # 1
Written by Scott Snyder
Art by Greg Capullo

- Why? TWO NAMES: Zack Snyder & Greg Capullo. I’ve been liking Snyder’s AMERICAN VAMPIRE over at Vertigo Comics. His Skinner Sweet just gives me the chills. When I was a kid, I’ve been imagining myself in the future to be an animator or a comic book artist. During the 90’s, I started out reading comics by reading SPAWN. When I saw the art, I was in total awe. Years past, the title got a new artist. I thought at first, ‘is it time for me to drop this title?’. But this new artist just totally won me over. His name is Greg F*$%&^g Capullo. He is one of the artists that I look up to for me to be an inspiring artist. If you put these two people together in a book. Especially, in Batman. Total comic book orgasm! — Norby Ela

- Post Flashpoint, Grant Morrison will be leaving BATMAN INC, so we wondered what will be the flagship Bat book. Its safe to say that Batman with Snyder and CAPULLO (Hell Yeah) will be the book to follow! Tony Daniel’s job in the current Batman is good, but not that great, and reading what Snyder is bringing in Detective – it made it more exciting that he’ll get his hands on the main Bat-book! and what we really can’t wait for is he’ll be writing the real goddamn batman – BRUCE WAYNE!! — Tony Tuason

BATWOMAN #1
Written by J.H. Williams III & Haden Blackman
Art by Amy Reeder

- When one of my friends handed me a hardcover of BATWOMAN: ELEGY by Rucka and Williams III, I s%^t you not, I was totally blown away. Now, Greg Rucka gone, this is a major factor that I might back-off from this title. But, when I browsed through the pages of my friend’s Elegy book. I just couldn’t resist not turning away from J.H. WILLIAMS III art. – Norby Ela

- Batwoman, without a doubt is one the top female characters in comics today. Greg Rucka and Williams made Batwoman famous in the pages of Detective Comics, and man what a wonderful book it was, Williams’ art is EFFIN’ AMAZING!!! Though, Rucka left DC and is now writing Punisher for Marvel, Williams took writing duties. Batwoman returns in September, and i just hope that the book doesn’t suffer delays, but still, this is worth picking up!

BATGIRL #1
Written by Gail Simone
Art by Ardian Syaf & Vicente Cifuentes

Barbara Gordon, THE original BATGIRL, paralyzed when the Joker shot her in Batman: The Killing Joke (by Allan Moore) and that was … 1988! Barbara then became Oracle, and has been for the last TWO decades. Oracle also stars in BIRDS OF PREY, a book where Gail Simone also wrote, and was best known for. There is no doubt of Simone’s fondness for Barbara, and now she gets lucky with the reboot, she gets to write Batgirl #1 – also known as “BATGIRL WALKS AGAIN” hehe. Hopefully Simone brings her A-game. — Tony Tuason

SPECIAL MENTIONS:

RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #1
Written by Scott Lobdell
Art by Kenneth Rocafort

- Jason Todd (aka “Red Hood” or “The 2nd Robin”), leads a team of Anti-Heroes – Arsenal and Starfire. This team books looks pretty interesting, and we would definitely want to see the interaction between Arsenal and Red Hood. We’re picking this instead of NIGHTWING and we just hope that the book would be badass. — Tony Tuason

BATMAN & ROBIN #1
Written by Peter J. Tomasi
Art by Pat Gleason

- If you’ve been following Batman in the past 2 years, you must be aware of Batman’s son — Damien Wayne. Damien has transformed from being a brat raised by the League of Assasins with his mom Talia Al Ghul, and to being Robin when Dick Grayson took the mantle of the Bat. We all love Damien, especially seeing his interaction with everyone. But now, Batman and Robin doesn’t star the light-hearted Dick Grayson as Batman, it has BRUCE WAYNE and it would be awesome to see the Father and Son do action — Tony Tuason
