Review: Batgirl # 18

Fanboying over Batgirl # 18 by Brian Q. Miller and Dustin Nguyen from DC Comics.

Happy Valentines Everybody!

This standard one issue story will definitely brings together a very unique and cute pairing between the new Batgirl Stephanie Brown formerly the Spoiler and Klarion, the Witch Boy.

The story details a murder which paves the way to Batgirl and Klarion teaming up to catch the culprit… Klarion’s cat who is now very insane with lust. After all, its not just humans who go crazy when the month of hearts hits, even were-cats need to do the horizontal mambo too you know.

Without spoiling the book too much for you, this is a very unconventional valentine story. No sexual friction between the main characters but just a fun adventure and some quips or two here and there.

The book also enjoys a very stylized illustration thanks to the talents of Mr. Dustin Nguyen. The changes between the color pallettes used in the book helps in making us feel that were in another world.

Of course the dialogues particularly that of Klarion was something that was really interesting. Miller definitely fleshed out Klarion in a whole new light shying away from the Grant Morrison version of the character.

Overall, this is a pretty good book to read especially this month. It’s also a great break to read some good natured stories that doesn’t really need too much of your brain power.

I’m giving this a perfect score. 5 stars.
