Take the Plunge with Remender and Tocchini’s New Undersea Dystopian Sci-fi Series, LOW
Fresh from his recently concluded first arc for Deadly Class, Rick Remender is gearing up for another creator-owned title at Image, this time, teaming up with long-time collaborator, artist Greg Tocchini for the new sci-fi fantasy series, LOW.
The duo, known for their run on Uncanny X-Force, has set their sights on a dystopian world wherein humanity has retreated into underwater sanctuaries, relocating to radiation-shielded cities under the sea after intense solar-radiation renders the surface of the earth inhabitable. The story will be fuelled by a returning probe bearing information regarding a possibly liveable planet which unfortunately lands on the surface of the Earth, which meant taking big risks for what could be botched and useless information. Luckily, a group consisting of representatives from various warring human clans are ready to venture out into the barren wasteland that once cradled life, with a lingering taste for hope and new beginnings.
LOW, will revolve around “one woman’s eternal optimist [sic] against the crushing weight of a world without hope” Remender says. “Stel’s a perfect character to examine the notion that it’s not what happens in life that defines us, but how we choose to deal with it,” he adds.
The first issue of the series will consist of 30 pages, and will be priced at $3.99. Street date for issue #1 is July 30.
