STK657091“When a man becomes a Christian, he becomes industrious, trustworthy and prosperous. Now, if that man when he gets all he can and saves all he can, does not give all he can, I have more hope for Judas Iscariot than for that man!” ― John Wesley

You don’t know it yet, but you are really Judas. You simply can’t accept it because the Holy Bible told you that he is the ultimate bad guy. But let me enlighten you to God’s divine plan, that without Judas’ “betrayal,” His death on the cross will not happen in the first place. Mankind will not be saved from sin. Judas is the patron saint of all sinners, and nobody can’t take that title away from him. And I think nobody in his right mind would like to have this title. And if Judas is a saint, it means that he is not in hell.

Judas: The Last Days (JTLD) is a good graphic novel that depicts this philosophy. Word of advice before reading this book, you better leave your religious belief behind, forget everything you read in the Holy Bible or what your priest or pastor thought you. Just simply accept the Holy Bible as an ordinary fictional book that you read as a requirement for your academics. Reading JTLD is not a sin but a good eye opener which will teach you what the author wants you to realize about life. This is not your typical super hero comic book, it simply shows that the twelve apostles turned out to be immortals, including St. Paul (formerly Saul of Tarsus) who have more power than the others.

Let me give justice per chapter and let me show you that you are Judas:

Chapter 1: A Prison of Human Shape. Judas was seeking Matthew’s help in search of the Messiah to ask for His forgiveness. You are Judas seeking God for forgiveness every time you do something evil.
Chapter 2: Now My Heart Is Full. James the Lessor is drug addict that can never obtain a true high as it turns out immortals can’t get drunk or high. It shows that our so called saints can turn it to be more sinners than Judas. So don’t pretend to be a fool who believes that your heart is full.
Chapter 3: Necessary Monsters. Enter President Paul, the 13th apostle, whose real mission is still to eliminate Christ’s apostles even from the very beginning. This is the most action packed issue of all the six issues.
Chapter 4: Runeberg’s Good News. Aside from JTLD’s Runeberg, who in the literary world is the real author of Good News? Your answer is as good as mine.
Chapter 5: On The Road. Let us go back in time and look inside the heart of the Bible’s ultimate hitman, whose real mission is to eliminate the early Christians.
Chapter 6: 5 Facts About My Everlasting Life. I will not list it down, it is for you to find out, but there is one thing I assure you. You have all five in your miserable life.

If you are familiar with Leonardo Da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’ – you will notice some similarities on how the artist depicts the JTDL characters, especially Jesus Christ. Mr. John Amor’s artistic style was uniquely simple and yet was able to capture the picture what the world may look like in three different time lines. Past, the biblical-fantasy setting, where it all began. The Present scenario where reality was captured in a picture perfect moment. Future, the end of the world, the Armageddon was done futuristically. The frames reminds me of an old children Christian’s TV show (Super Book & Flying House), only this time it is dedicated for the matured readers.

Don’t let your parents read this book, they may have a wrong impression that this is an anti-Christ graphic novel, or worst they may think that you are joining a cult that worship Judas Iscariot. Most probably they will be more surprised if they found out that in this graphic novel, Jesus was depicted as gay, while making love with Paul. More controversial than the 1988 movie “The Last Temptation of Christ” which shows Jesus was making love with Mary Magadalene.

What really intrigues me is that the writer – W. Maxwell Prince failed to establish what happened to the remaining apostles, and how Paul got more power than the others I highly recommend this book to all the matured readers (18 years old and above). And after reading JTDL I encouraged them to go back to the author’s main reference, the Holy Bible.
