Artwork is the driving force of the stories themselves

To sum it all up..

Deep Sea Thoughts #2 is a great anthology of emotion brought about by impressively immersive art.

It’s quite the challenge to create a comic that has no dialogue and Maegan Macarat continues to do such a feat with ease in Deep Sea Thoughts #2.

Deep Sea Thoughts #2 still follows the format of having small stories centering on Deep Sea going through various life situations. Each page is brimming with art, and in the case of some pages having a lot of space is usually meant for the underwater setting. Those said pages emphasize how much the reader can feel like they’re underwater both visually and emotionally which is one of the strong elements of this comic.

Deep Sea Thoughts #2 is a great anthology of emotion brought about by impressively immersive art, and what adds to that is the fact that each story is reliant on just the art alone telling the story. One thing that surprised me from this comic is how this is sadly the last issue. But at least, the 2 issues of Deep Sea going through life feels like an authentic journey and it’s interesting to see what Macarat has planned next for comics.
