Batman and Robin: Eternal #26 caps the weekly Bat-series with a BANG! Though Scott Snyder is the mastermind, his protege James Tynion IV saves the best parts to this usual but exciting superhero action-packed finisher. It is true, it takes place during Bruce Wayne’s absence in Batman‘s Super Heavy arc, this concluding part actually fits to the overall The New 52 Bat-narrative, similar to the pursuit of its’ predecessor, Batman: Eternal. It actually answers the mystery behind Mother’s motive, Cassandra’s background, and a surprising sacrifice of a family member to end it all. And to give gravitas to this issue, virtually all Bat-family member have a role to play here, even in a small but significant part. To make this finale sweeter, it includes Bruce Wayne returning as Batman complete the proverbial circle of life. The phrase “ALL OF THEM” encapsulates the true essence of “Batman and Robin” – true superhero partnership.
Understandably, this climatic chapter has a lot of artists and inkers around, making the visuals more uneven and a bit annoying to view since this issue is one entire story. However, I’m pleased that our very own Carlo Pagulayan and Jason Paz do an incredible job of doing their respective duties that resulted in a very clean and detailed collaborative artwork.
Batman and Robin: Eternal #26 finishes on a high note, particularly in fitting nicely to the overall grand Bat-narrative. And of course, a toast to Pagulayan and Paz!
